Thick Web Switch
For both high speed lines and lines with significant cargo or passenger traffic, thick web switches are the perfect answer. These switches' asymmetrical sections provide very high lateral rigidity, extending the switch's lifespan.
Specific asymmetrical tongue rail sections that have been forged at one end to match regular rail sections are used to make these switches. The clamped area at the switch's end serves as the main transition point between sections. As a result, welding is no longer necessary in the flexible area.
The forging's length can be modified to fit a particular joining method, such as welding, an insulated fishplate, or an emergency fishplate. The base of the switch rail is machined in the flexible area to reduce setting forces and to affect the switch's elastic strength.
The following are its benefits:
- Lessens jerks
- Significantly increases life
- expectancy
- High lateral stiffness ensures minimal distortion under moving loads.
- Removes every welded joint from the whole, unclamped switch area.
